Forests cover about 50 percent of the earth's surface; they're found in many temperate and tropical regions. They're also a major source of income for many rural people. Forests play an important role in the environment by providing us with wood, fruits, animals and other useful materials. They also reduce air pollution, regulate the climate and serve as natural fire prevention. Therefore, it's crucial that we sustain our forests.
Forests help the environment by maintaining biodiversity and reducing air pollution. Trees provide homes for numerous animals and insects. They provide food for widespread animal populations, such as birds, anteaters, bats and many others. Additionally, forests act as sanctuaries for endangered species, such as jaguars, wolves, tigers and many others. Therefore, we should sustain our forests so that these creatures can live there safely.
Huge trees produce a lot of lumber; this keeps the economy strong in the forested areas. Logging companies pay their employees well so they can afford to work in the forests. They also buy timber from the areas they work in so they can profit from cutting it down. Consequently, sustaining our forests makes them more sustainable and helps those working in them earn a living. In this way- by creating a sustainable economy - we'll be helping our environment while preserving ancient trees used for their economic value.
The name of this article is borrowed from a famous essay by Henry David Thoreau titled 'The Forest Crossings.' In it, he argues that forests have much to offer us humans. They offer us material for construction, food and other needs without asking for anything back in return. We can use them to build our civilization; however, we must understand that we have obligations to our fellow man when we do so. We must leave what we take from the forest untouched when we pass through it on our way to or from civilization.
Forests have a lot to offer us; they're vital to our economy and our ecosystem. However, we've negatively affected their natural beauty by logging them excessively and building infrastructure in them. We must respect the forest if we want to benefit from its resources. Instead of damaging it further, let's work toward sustainable use of forests by creating sustainable economies and green industries that can benefit rural people without destroying their habitats.
